When Hollywood stars went through jaw-dropping body transformation for playing superheroes on the big screen and their before-and-after-photos left fans gasping for breath.
When taking an exit after playing the iconic role of Wolverine for almost 17 years, Hugh Jackman stated that one of the major reasons he thought of quitting was the body transformation that he had to go through every time he was supposed to return for the superhero role.
There have been numerous examples where Hollywood stars have changed their shape to slip into the character of a superhero they war up for playing on the big screen.
While there are some actors who had a good physique (Read: Chris Hemsworth) and slightly tweaked it to be fit for the superhero role, there are others who just went on to flab to fit and the result was magical.
Here are five such instances of Hollywood stars transforming their bod to play superheroes on the big screen leaving everyone with their jaws dropped.
Probably the most talked-about body transformation of all time is what Christian Bale did during the time he did the Dark Knight trilogy. Right before Christian Bale starred in Batman Begins, he featured in the 2004 film The Machinist. While he had lost of weight for The Machinist where he was only 120 pounds, Bale was given 5 months to regain weight be ready to play the superhero on the big screen in the Christopher Nolan classic.
Chris Pratt, who featured in supporting roles in a lot of comedy films and TV shows including Parks and Recreation was roped in to play the lead role of a superhero Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014. He was given a few months’ time to shred the weight. The result is iconic.
It is not that, Ben Affleck was not in a good shape before he played Batman. But, he left everyone surprised with his transformation when he appeared on the big screen taking on Superman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Kumail Nanjiani shot to fame with his role in Silicon Valley and received worldwide acclaim and an Oscar nomination for his movie The Big Sick. Last year, it was announced that he will star in the MCU film Eternals and a few months later he broke the internet with his shirtless pictures. He had also revealed in an interview that Hrithik Roshan was his inspiration behind the transformation.
