Ayurvedic diet: what you need to know about one of the hottest trends
With so many diet fads thrown at us each year only to be debunked later on, it’s easy to lose faith in staying on top of our health. Maybe that’s why many have turned to more natural, holistic lifestyles that have been around for thousands of years. Among the top is Ayurveda, an ancient philosophy and healing system focused on personalizing diets that are adequate for each person.
What is it?
Ayurveda is a natural system of healing wisdom developed in India more than 5,000 years ago.
The word Ayurveda in Sanskrit roughly means “the knowledge of life” and is still widely practiced in India, with strong influences visible around the world.
Its main belief is that principles and foods can help the body’s innate intelligence and promote natural self healing.
The foods each person should eat depend on that person’s body constitution, which is known as the dosha.
