Anurag Kashyap on making Choked for girlfriend Shubhra Shetty: She got me the script
By Anurag Kashyap’s new film Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai started streaming on Netflix today (June 5). The film stars Saiyami Kher and Roshan Mathew in lead roles.
Choked, written by Nimit Bhave, has demonetisation at its core. The film is receiving rave reviews from critics and has been lauded for its unique concept. In an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in Entertainment and Lifestyle Editor Ananya Bhattacharya, Anurag has revealed that it was his girlfriend, Shubhra Shetty, who brought the film’s script to him.
Choked starts with the dedication: For Shubhra Shetty. On asking the filmmaker what is the story there, he said that it was Shubhra who brought him the script.
During the interaction, the filmmaker also said that he made the film as a thank you to Shubhra.
“She was the one who brought the script to me and this was around 2015. She didn’t see a lot of my films because she says that she gets disturbed by them. And she said if you made this movie, I will watch it. So, I made this film. It was like a thank you. She has watched it now and she is very happy with it.”
