What is the meaning of Vamika, the name of Virat-Anushka’s daughter?
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli became parents to a baby girl on January 11, 2021. The couple welcomed their bundle of joy at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. They had requested the paps to not click pictures of their child, for the sake of their privacy. Today, on February 1, the couple announced the name of their little one and also shared her first picture. The name of the baby girl is Vamika.
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF VAMIKA?
Vamika means a form of the Hindu goddess Durga. The name originates from Vamadeva, the preserving aspect of lord Shiva. Goddess Durga is also considered to be the other half of Lord Shiva.
Sharing the first picture of their daughter on Instagram, Anushka Sharma wrote, “We have lived together with love , presence and gratitude as a way of life but this little one, Vamika has taken it to a whole new level !Tears, laughter, worry, bliss – emotions that have been experienced in a span of minutes sometimes. Sleep is elusive, but our hearts are so full. Thanking you all for your wishes, prayers and good energy (sic).”

After Vamika’s birth on January 11, Virat Kohi shared a statement on social media that read, “We are thrilled to share with you that we’ve been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon. We thank you all for your love, prayers, and good wishes. Anushka and the baby are both healthy and we are feeling beyond blessed to start this new chapter of our lives. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Love, Virat (sic).”
