The more you align with nature the better your body performs. Here are a few winter health tips
Maintain a routine: As much as winter can lead to late nights and waking up later as well. Remember the circadian rhythm is important for overall health and well being. A simple tip would be to maintain a journal and allow yourself to have late nights for like 2-3 days a week.
Regular exercise: regular exercise consisting of cardio and strength training would be ideal. Cold weather can often make you feel lazy and de-motivated. Hence it would be wise to set up your fitness goals and routine pre winter and stick to them. You can also have an accountability partner like a friend , trainer or a spouse to help you keep on track.
Water: Ensure adequate water status. This includes 3.7 litres for men and 2,7 litres for women. People tend to drink less water in winter and this can be detrimental to the body. It can lead to more hunger pangs, toxin build up and dehydration. Tips to include more fluids would be drinking plain water, water infused with mint, basil and fruit slices, green tea, chamomile tea, herbal tea, lemon water with pinch salt and jeers, diluted vegetable juices and coconut water.
Skin care: Dry skin can be a concern in the winter. As much as you can keep up with the skin care routine of topical moisturizers and vitamin C serum, it would be wise to consume adequate water, omega-3 foods like fatty fish, walnuts and flax seeds and vitamin c rich foods like citrus fruits, papaya, cauliflower, broccoli to keep the skin naturally moisturized.
