Tollywood producer Pokuri Rama Rao passes away
Tollywood producer Pokuri Rama Rao breathed his last on Friday evening, at the age of 65.
He was well-known as producer Pokuri Babu Rao’s brother and for their banner Eetharam Films. Reports state that the producer breathed his last at a private hospital in the city and his family is yet to release a statement. Conflicting reports also surface of Rama Rao passing away due to cardiac arrest or Covid-19 and the source of death is yet to be revealed. However, the producer is said to have undergone treatment at a private hospital due to ill-health and passed away as his health deteriorated.
Pokuri Rama Rao worked with his brother Babu Rao at their production house. The duo has produced several of Gopichand’s films like Ranam, Yagnam and Ontari. His cremation is expected to take place today at a crematorium in the city. If confirmed that Rama Rao passed due to Covid-19, this will be the first death in the Telugu film industry due to coronavirus. Bandla Ganesh and television actors like Prabhakar, Navya Swamy and Ravi Krishna have also been tested positive for coronavirus, but Ganesh has recovered and the rest are under home-quarantine being asymptomatic.
