Demi Lovato predicted she would sing Super Bowl national anthem 10 years ago
Demi Lovato manifested her big night.
On Sunday, the “Sober” singer took the stage to perform the national anthem in a chic white suit to kick off Super Bowl 2020 in Miami, Florida. But fans remember a time when the performance was just a dream for the now 27-year-old singer, currently having a banner year after her 2018 overdose scare.
When she was just 17 years old, Lovato tweeted that she would sing the powerhouse song.
“One day, I’m gonna sing the national anthem at a super bowl. Onnnee dayyy….” Lovato wrote in a tweet dated February 7, 2010, which was then shared by record exec Scooter Braun.
At the time, Lovato was on the cusp of widespread commercial success as a breakout Disney star on the show “Sonny With a Chance.” She had also just released her second studio album, “Here We Go Again,” and was rising up in the music business on the coat tails of fellow Disney prodigies, Jonas Brothers.
Lovato herself Instagrammed the tweet, saying “Dreams really do come true ya’ll.”
Her fans retweeted the prognostication, with many saying they were proud of the recently-recovered singer, who emerged from a 2018 overdose victorious, singing her latest single “Anyone” at the 2020 Grammys.
