Check movie review highlights: Nithiin, Rakul Preet, Priya Varrier starrer is a mixed bag
After delivering films like Aithe & Anukokunda Oka Roju, director Chandrasekhar Yeleti is back with the prison drama Check, starring Nithiin, Rakul Preet Singh & Priya Prakash Varrier in the lead roles.
Aditya (Nithiin) is a death-row inmate who faces charges of terrorism and has limited time to live. He is a con man who believes he has been framed for a crime he did not commit. Manasa’s (Rakul Preet Singh) father (Posani Krishna Murali) asks her to take up the case as it will be good for her career. When in jail he meets Sriman Narayana (Sai Chand), a chess player he learns the game from.
With music by Kalyani Malik & cinematography by Rahul Shrivatsav, the film hit screens this Friday amid high expectations. The first half of the film however shows that it’s an odd mix of an intriguing concept which is given commercial treatment. For every scene that shows the vulnerable there’s a highly choreographer fight scene and even a duet to balance it off. It remains to be seen if Yeleti manages to pull it off.
