7 Celebrity Net Worths That May Surprise You
Imagine if you were just given $500 million. How would you spend or save it? What would you do with the money? It would be overwhelming to make such big decisions. Finance isn’t always easy, even for celebrities.
Fame can go one of two ways. The celebrity can lay low and stay on top of their finances, investments, and create a great fortune, or they can let the fame get to them and go on too many spending sprees. For some celebrities, you would never guess how much money they have accumulated. While other celebrities, you would be surprised by how little they have due to bankruptcy or too much spending and partying.
Here are some celebrities that you would be shocked to know are worth very little, and some you would never expect to be worth so much.
Lindsay Lohan: $500 Million
Lindsay Lohan’s career really took off after Mean Girls came out in 2004. From acting, to singing, to modeling, to producing, the talented woman has done it all. However, all the success caught up to Lohan and she began to get in trouble. Her hard-partying and decline in reputation led to less mainstream acting roles. In 2012, the IRS seized control of Lohan’s funds to pay off over $200,000 in back taxes. In addition, rehab fees, shopping sprees, and further IRS debts caused her to lose a lot of her net worth, leaving her now with $500,000,000. Reportedly, Charlie Sheen wrote her a check to help pay her debts and Oprah paid her $2 million to promote the Oprah Winfrey Network.
Mike Tyson: $3 Million
At the height of his career, Mike Tyson was worth over $300 million and earning a guaranteed $30 million per fight. The former heavyweight champion of the world went through a series of unfortunate events beginning in the late 1980s, including a divorce from actress Robin Givens and going to prison. In addition, he spent all his money on luxuries like a pair of Bengel tigers and over $800,000 worth of jewelry. This all contributed to his fortune’s decline and in 2013 Tyson filed for bankruptcy. Since retiring in 2005, Tyson has been busy making several appearances in TV shows and movies, which has helped bring his fortune back up a bit.
Bono: $700 Million
Bono, the front-man of the band U2, has a higher net worth than many would originally believe. However U2’s 360 tour is the highest-grossing concert of all time, bringing the band nearly $750,000,000. His band also authored on of the world’s best-selling albums of all time, Joshua Tree, which sold almost 25,000,000 copies. Other than his music, Bono is a very accomplished businessman. He also invested in Facebook through Elevation Partners before the social media giant blew up.
